Your hire period must include time for you to set up, clear away and tidy up all the areas you’ve used. The volunteers who help to run Scarth Hall, and the many people that use it, are extremely grateful for your co-operation in leaving all rooms and facilities as you find them, and for vacating the area(s) you have booked by the end of your hire period. The following table sets out indicative rates ( from January 2022) but there may be variations and additions which will be confirmed once your exact requirements are determined. Please request a booking form once you have settled on an available date.

|Bar hire: fully-licensed and staffed bar available||There is currently no charge for the bar but it’s expected that the the drinks purchased by you and your guests will cover our staffing and other costs. Because of this, no alcohol may be brought onto the premises.|
Rate 1: charities, non-profit organisations, private hire. (For regular hires such as weekly classes, this rate also applies to volunteer organisers and self-employed tutors.)
Rate 2: business and commercial; government and public sector.
Important Note; in addition to the above hourly rates, charges will be made for the provision of tablecloths, lighting/sound/cinema, and catering on the premises. This reflects the additional costs incurred to the hall as the hourly rates are set very low. So the above will give you indicative costs – please decide exactly what your requirements are and then get in touch.
*All hall users have access to the ramped rear entrance and toilet facilities which may mean that people using other parts of the Hall will need to go through, or past, the Bistro area.
- The minimum chargeable hire period is 1 hour but we are happy to charge for half hours beyond the first hour.
- Your booking is not confirmed until the hire fee is paid in full. Payment is due two weeks before your event.
- When an invoice is issued it must be paid in full within 28 days.
- If at least 7 days notice is provided for a cancellation then any payment made may be credited against future bookings. If less than 7 days is given then the full hire fee is liable and not refunded.
Cleaning arrangements for most bookings
All hirers are expected to leave Scarth Hall clean and tidy at the end of your hire period, ready for the next group to use. If this does not happen you’ll be asked to pay cleaning charges and you are asked to agree to this at the time of booking. If the areas you’ve hired are not clean and tidy when you arrive for your booking, please contact us immediately.
A fully-licensed and staffed bar is available, with alcoholic and soft drinks at reasonable prices. You will be asked at the time of booking if you’d like Scarth Hall to provide a bar for your event. There is currently no charge for the bar but the expectation is that the income from the drinks purchased by you and your guests will cover our staffing costs.
